My Commitment to the Grand Canyon Council

As the Chief Operating Officer, I will work in cooperation with the board and volunteers to achieve the objectives outlined in the GCC 3.0 council vision and build effective relationships. You can expect I will On My Honor…

  • Embrace the culture of the council and strive for continued success and growth.

  • Guard the values of the Scouting organization and have a clear understanding of the mission of our movement.

​

  • Promote the Strategic Vision of the property and collaborate with the best leadership available to achieve the objectives.

​​

  • Be a trustworthy steward of the financial resources using the prescribed management practices of the BSA and grow the council operating budget.

​

  • Maintain a volunteer friendly atmosphere and be responsive to their needs.

​​

  • Provide exceptional customer service at all times.

​

  • Build a competent and diverse staff and surround myself with a great team that works at their greatest potential.

​

  • Help create an organization and committee structure, with job descriptions, meeting schedules, timelines and strategic objectives. Committees and staff will have measurable objectives to achieve goals.

​​​

  • Create a world in Scouting where families will want to bring their friends along for the adventure.

​​

  • Raise operating, capital and endowment dollars to support programs.

​

  • Seek input from volunteers and staff to improve the efficiency of the organization.

​

  • Lead by example with work ethic, professionalism, integrity and compassion.

​

  • Create a positive, fun and productive work environment for all staff.

​

  • Be methodical, organized, and attentive to details in all aspects of the operation.

​

  • Be a coach to staff and volunteers.

​

  • Manage and implement organizational change as directed by the Strategic Plan and council leadership.  

​

  • Recognize and reward volunteers and staff team players.

​

  • Deliver a quality program and maintain good relations with council partners, community groups, and strategic alliances and organizations.

​

  • Provide accurate, transparent and timely reports to volunteers and staff.

​

  • Create fresh marketing materials…“Every job is a self-portrait of the person who did it…Autograph your work with excellence.”

​

  • Represent Scouting with utmost integrity and live by the Scout Oath and Law.

​

  • Maintain a happy home life.
